Question for the 'Murican Opponauts: Are bucket seats illegal? And are harnesses illegal? Or do these vary by state?

It's all legal if you have some sort of seat restraint.

But I heard harnesses are illegal if you don't have a cage. Is that true?

Most cops give absolutely zero fucks, if it holds you in your seat, it's good to go.

The law probably varies by state, but I can't imagine a cop pulling you over to check if you have a cage to go with your harness.

maybe for racing of some sort? I doubt the DMV or cops would care if you have a cage

This, I have a buddy in NC who rolls with a harness and half cage. Cops no care.

It looks to be legal if you have seats and restraints. This would probably be the easiest/safest way to go about it. http://bedryder.com/Home_Page.html

I believe they consider factory seatbelt to be the minimum, and anything better is cool with them.

I've seen a number of cases like that on other forums, but apparently the cops didn't even notice them.

Not true. Completely legal.
